There are three types of Machu Picchu admission tickets available throughout the year, and each ticket is divided into different circuits. These Machu Picchu circuits include three main routes, and each route begins at a different entry point and offers unique views of Machu Picchu.

Circuit 1 is the least popular ticket. In this circuit, you can view Machu Picchu from the upper area near the Guardian House, and the visit lasts approximately 2 hours. If you would like a longer experience, you can choose another route within Circuit 1, which allows more time and additional viewpoints.
Circuit 1 has four routes, and each route offers a different way to enjoy the views of Machu Picchu:
Route A allows you to hike up Machu Picchu Mountain, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the Inca citadel and the surrounding landscape.
Route B allows you to take the classic panoramic photos from the upper terraces.
Route C permits you to walk to Intipunku (the Sun Gate), where you can admire Machu Picchu and walk along part of the Inca Trail.
Route D includes a visit to Inca Bridge (Puente Inca), where you can explore the upper area, take photos, and walk to the bridge viewpoint.

Circuit 2 Machu Picchu is the most popular circuit. It is the only circuit that allows you to explore almost the entire Inca citadel, including its most important sectors. The walking tour lasts approximately 3 hours. There are only two routes available: Route A and Route B. We recommend booking 6 to 9 months in advance, as availability is limited each day.

Circuit 3 is the second most popular circuit. It allows you to explore the lower part of the citadel in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and you can take great photos from the lower terraces.
Circuit 3 includes four routes:
Route A: Huayna Picchu
Route B: Lower part of the citadel only
Route C: Great Cavern
Route D: Huchuy Picchu
You can add one of these additional attractions (Huayna Picchu, Huchuy Picchu, or the Great Cavern) to your Circuit 3 ticket. If you include one of these options, your visit will be extended by approximately 3 extra hours to explore the mountain or cavern.

Yes, it is possible. A few authorized Inca Trail tour operators and travel agencies have permission to check real-time availability on the Ministry of Culture’s official website. These authorized companies can book Machu Picchu tickets directly through the official system.
Individual travelers can purchase a maximum of five tickets per account. However, authorized Inca Trail tour operators and travel agencies can book more than 20 tickets per reservation, depending on availability.

There are several options available for exploring the Inca citadel. If you want to see most of the site, we recommend booking Circuit 2, Route A, or Route B, as these routes allow you to visit almost the entire citadel.

If your main goal is to take the classic panoramic photo from the upper terraces, Circuit 1 is the best option. This circuit allows you to view Machu Picchu from the high point near the Guardian House. However, this ticket does not allow you to enter and fully explore the inner sectors of the citadel.

Circuit 3 allows you to explore the lower part of the citadel, including important agricultural and residential areas.

How should you choose?
We recommend booking Circuit 2 (Route A or B) as your first option. If Circuit 2 is sold out, Circuit 3 is the next best choice. It still offers a great experience exploring Machu Picchu.

If both are sold out, we recommend booking Circuit 1, Route B, for the panoramic views. The other routes in Circuit 1 include additional experiences for an extra cost, but the hiking experience is unique and memorable.
