Your Machu Picchu tour from Lima begins with a seamless transfer from Astete International Airport to the train station, either in Poroy (a 40-minute drive from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo (1 hour and 40 minutes away). From there, you’ll board a scenic train for a 1 hour and 45-minute journey, passing through diverse landscapes. As the train winds through the foothills of the Andes, you’ll witness lush fields, charming villages, and stunning mountain views. The route follows the course of the majestic Urubamba River as it flows through the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to Machu Picchu, our representative will greet you at the station and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You can explore the thermal baths (hot springs), take a stroll through the quaint town, or embark on optional activities such as a hike to Mandor Waterfall or a visit to the rock carvings in the surrounding area.
An early start marks the second day of your adventure. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the bus station, where you’ll board a shuttle for a 25-minute ride up the winding road to the iconic Machu Picchu citadel.
Once at the site, your guide will lead you on an immersive tour, following Circuit 2, to explore the key highlights of this ancient wonder. You’ll visit the Main Square, the Sun Temple, the Intiwatana (Sun Clock), the Royal Rooms, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the Royal Inca Cemetery. This guided tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours, offering you a deeper understanding of Machu Picchu’s rich history and significance.
