My daughter and I were on a very tight budget but wanted to make the most of the trip of a lifetime to Machu Picchu. I’m so pleased we used Boleto Peru (part of Inca Trail Machu Picchu) to get our Machu Picchu tickets for us. They were very patient with me changing my mind about which circuits we wanted to do on which days. We chose three different circuits on three different days and they took the stress out of buying the tickets (which are only released in batches so it’s first come first served). I highly recommend choosing the 6am tickets when Machu Picchu is at its most spiritual and, because you’re first in, you feel as if you have the whole place to yourselves. There was very little mark up for this service and we were also able to book a guide for a couple of the circuits. I also recommend adding Wayna Picchu to Circuit 3 which is a strenuous and very steep climb, but SO worth it for the views at the top. Our guide, Samuel, was excellent. Being of Quechua descent, he was a mine of information and knowledge about Machu Picchu – the history, construction, people, and natural environment. He also came to our hotel the night before to have a chat with us about the trip and to find out if there was anything in particular that we needed or were interested in. All in all, a truly magical and memorable experience, made as easy as possible to organise by the fab team Fabiola and Maryori at Inca Trail Machu Picchu. Would definitely use them again – maybe for one of the Inca trails next time.

I ordered MP tickets for 3 different circuits on 3 different days. I had been to MP in fall 2023 and knew to book tickets at least 4 months in advance; they had cut back on the number of people allowed in daily shortly after we left in 2023. Even booking out 4 months in advance again, I was not able to get into circuit 2 (most popular) until 3pm on my 2nd day. The Upper Terrace (day one) was not a problem as we were getting off the train and couldn’t be there until 2pm (which worked out). The last day we did circuit 3 (lower Terrace) at 7am, so we were able to get in when we wanted. The Boleto Peru group helped me maneuver all these moving parts and were so helpful, kind, and understanding.

Unless you’re with a tour group who buys these tickets a year in advance, I would recommend buying your tickets at least 6 months in advance and planning your trip around your MP visit so you’re not disappointed after booking flights, trains, hotel rooms, etc, and finding out that you can’t get your tickets for the dates you planned on being at MP. It’s only getting harder as they manage the numbers who can go in on a daily basis.
