Ministerio de Cultura Machu Picchu Announcement:
The Ministry of Culture began to sell tickets for the new circuits to Machu Picchu. These Machu Picchu tickets are available starting June 1, 2024.
These circuits to Machu Picchu will be available only during the high season, allowing a maximum of 5600 visitors per day until October 15, as well as on December 30 and 31, 2024.
The Ministry of Culture announced that ticket sales have started for visiting the llaqta or Inca city of Machu Picchu during the high season, from June 1 to October 15, 2024, and on December 30 and 31 of this year.
During this high season, the entry capacity to the llaqta or Inca city of Machu Picchu increases from 4500 to a maximum of 5600 visitors per day, through three circuits with their different routes. An additional 1100 tickets will be offered starting today through the platform tuboleto.cultura.pe.
This increase in capacity is part of the Protocol for managing visits to the llaqta or Inca city of Machu Picchu during the high visitor season, which was approved on Monday, May 13.
Tickets purchased earlier remain valid for entry to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, allowing visitors to explore it through the circuits.
Regarding this, the Minister of Culture, Leslie Urteaga, expressed confidence in receiving a higher number of visitors to continue revitalizing the Cusco region and the country. “A few months ago, we decided together that the high season would be from June 1 to October 15, coinciding with global vacations. We know that we have higher traffic, and hopefully, this year we will recover the number of visitors from previous times,” she added.
For this high season, the grace period will be extended. “The entry time for each circuit is indicated on your ticket. There is a thirty (30) minute grace period for entering the Llaqta of Machu Picchu in the low season and forty-five (45) minutes in the high season (an additional 15 minutes is being added for entry). After this period, visitors cannot enter the llaqta of Machu Picchu unless due to force majeure or fortuitous events properly demonstrated,” according to the protocol.
