The Sacred Valley of the Incas, better known as the Valle Sagrado, is famous for the traces left by its ancient inhabitants, the Incas. The Urubamba River meanders through steep slopes covered with ancient Inca ruins, charming villages and the bustling market of Pisac. A little further on are the vast salt flats of Salinas de Maras and the Inca agricultural laboratory of Moray.
On the Sacred Valley Tour from Cusco, we visit Chinchero, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Pisac. This route offers the opportunity to explore all the important places in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you can admire the magnificent works of the Incas in stone. We will also have the chance to interact with the local population and enjoy the stunning mountainous landscapes surrounding the Sacred Valley, with its glaciers, rivers, and the friendly people who inhabit this ancestral valley.
We will pick you up from your hotel between 7:00 and 7:30 am. The bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. to begin our journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. During the tour, we will make a stop to enjoy the impressive views of the Vilcanota River as it winds through the carpet-like pattern of plants. We will continue until we reach the archaeological complex of Pisac, one of the important centers that once guarded the capital of the ancient kingdom.
During the ascent we can observe the spectacular terraces that make up this site. Pisac is made up of different districts, including Qanturaquay, Intihuatana (the solar clock) and Tanqanamarka. After visiting the archaeological site, we will head to the colorful Pisac market where we will have free time to interact with the villagers and artisans and purchase souvenirs.
We will then continue our journey, stopping in Urubamba for lunch at one of the local restaurants. Later we will visit the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, known as the “living Inca village”. This place, with its Inca terraces, food stores, and intact houses, invites us into its mystery and makes us feel as if no time has passed since Inca life. In addition, the pink granite monoliths, carved with impressive perfection, stand out.
Finally, we will visit the village of Chinchero, where we will receive an explanation of its archaeological complex. We return to the city of Cusco around 7:00 PM.
